Moldovan judges and prosecutors will be able to retrain as advocates
The amendments to the Law On Advocacy were developed by the Moldovan Union of Lawyers and approved by the government on October 20.
The amendments to the Law On Advocacy were developed with an aim to create a system in which only professionals on the basis of their own knowledge and merit can obtain admission to the profession of a lawyer. The document approved by the Cabinet will be submitted to the Parliament for consideration.
If the amendments come into force, to be granted a lawyer's license, judges and prosecutors with at least ten years of experience in their position will need to attend 20 hours of a course on advocacy and ethics and pass a qualification exam. They will be exempted from the internship.
